BYU public relations student Ethan Parry was recently named the Vice President of Public Relations for the National PRSSA Committee for the 2014-2015 year.

Parry showed great appreciation in being chosen with this statement:

“I am truly honored by the opportunity that I have to serve on the 2014-2015 National PRSSA Committee as Vice President of Public Relations. PRSSA is where I have found some of my best friends, mentors and really, my passion for the PR profession.

My heart is full of gratitude. I couldn’t have done this without the delegates who voted for me at the National Assembly, the fellow support of our Executive Board, and of course, our Chapter’s members.

This position is not just my position. I want all 11,500 PRSSA members to feel like it is theirs as well. Together, we will able to accomplish great things.”

A native of Seattle, Wash., Parry has two brothers and a sister. The aspect of public relations that got Parry interested initially is the emphasis the industry has on establishing mutually beneficial relationships.

“As I was exploring different majors, this is the part that resonated with me the most,” Parry said. “PR seemed right. I also love how there are so many job options within PR. I could work in crisis communications, in an agency or corporate setting, media relations, public affairs etc.”

Parry has aspirations of working in the tech sector of public relations after graduation.
