Timeline for Applying to the Master's Program:

November:

  • Fill out application and make checklist of everything that needs to be done and when it needs to be completed by.
  • Contact people for letters of recommendation.
  • Sign up for GRE

December:

  • Remind people about letters of recommendation
  • Take GRE

January:

  •  Retake GRE if needed
  •  Get letters of recommendation in

February:

  • February 28th deadline to have everything into the department.

June:

  •  Find out if you're accepted to the program

July:

  • Fill out assistantship and scholarship applications
  • Register for classes

September:

  •  Start school

Tips for applying to the program:

1.) The most difficult part of the graduate application is getting the letters of recommendation in on time. Make sure to start requesting the letters early on in your application process and stay on top of people to get them in on time.

2.) Give yourself plenty of time to study for the GRE. IF you're planning on applying to the program it’s a good idea to start studying for the GRE a solid two or three months in advance. Also, GRE prep classes are an excellent way to boost your scores.
