Communications majors who chose the communications studies emphasis will participate in a program that will give strong grounding in the liberal arts and sciences, provide a firm grasp of communications theory and principles, and teach practical workplace skills. In communications studies, students will choose a path that can emphasize 1) general communications, 2) the academic side of communications, or 3) contemporary media issues. They will learn communications strategies for connecting with diverse audiences. This includes understanding how broadcast, print, advertising, public relations, digital and other communications practices are most effective for reaching desired audiences and publics.
