The public relations emphasis provides training in one of the fastest growing areas of the communications field. It prepares students with critical skills in writing, strategic program planning, research, creative problem solving and media relations. The degree is a great preparation for advanced degrees or as a stand-alone degree.
In today’s workplace, employers look for high-caliber writing skills and strategic problem solving capabilities. The public relations program creates a writing-centric environment that allows students to hone their skills in this arena.
BYU public relations students have placed second nationally in the Arthur Page Society Case Competition and have organized the Public Relations Student Society of America’s national conference multiple times.
Bradley Public Relations, BYU’s chapter firm of PRSSA, allows students to work with five to seven clients per semester, offering an opportunity to build and implement strategic public relations campaigns. Current clients include the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), Deseret Book, Children’s Miracle Network and TravelWise.
