QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANT

Qualifications: Required:
- Experience with professional writing and content editing
- Experience with scripts/podcasts
- Portfolio, class or previous work experience that demonstrates your ability to write and provides writing samples you have crafted
- Creativity and the ability to proactively take initiative
- Meticulous attention to detail
- Proactive and ability to follow through independently while meeting deadlines
- Serve as an example of BYU Dress and Grooming standards
- Must demonstrate a high level of professionalism and possess a growth mindset

Preferred:
- Experience with Brightspot, Canva or other design tools
- Strong team work and collaboration abilities
- Experience with graphic design, photo/video, websites or social media management
- Majors or minors in Communications, English, media, or other writing-centric areas

DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES

1. Writing content creation: Design, create, script, write and edit professional material for Sorensen Center events, communications and initiatives. Manage and produce technical writing that consistently communicates the vision and mission of the Sorensen Center. Writing assignments would include social media blurbs, blogs, annual report materials, news articles, scripts and other essential writing pieces, as well as assisting in editing material written by other internal teams.

2. Assist in general communications efforts: Be familiar with Sorensen marketing campaigns, assist in wide-scale communication efforts and collaborate with media, writing, website and design team members.

3. Podcast creation and collaboration: This role will help to design, script, launch and run a leadership podcast for the center as a whole from scratch. We are looking for someone well versed in podcasts/media, and able to be proactive to research, create, curate and execute a large-scale podcast.
