Leonard Bartlett

Emeritus

Leonard “Lee” Bartlett taught advertising, mass media ethics and art history at BYU from 1987-2002. He holds a BA degree in Art, as well as a MA in Art History.

Some of his professional experiences during his lifetime include Air Force service during the Korean war, a Commendation Medal for work on a classified intelligence publication, and thirty years’ work in the advertising field.

During his career at BYU, he served as Communications Department chair as well as Assistant to the President in University Communications. He served on the President’s Council during the Merrill J. Bateman administration. He retired in 2000 but soon returned to serve as the BYU Olympic Coordinator for the Salt Lake 2002 Winter Olympics. He retired again after the Winter Games.

Lee’s service to church and community includes: President of the Brigham Young Academy Foundation; Provo Arts Council and member of the Provo Center Focus program; Provo Foster Care Review Board; tutor for the Project Read Adult Literacy Program; chair of the LDS Church Utah South Public Affairs Council; bishop’s counselor; gospel doctrine instructor; assistant stake executive secretary.

Lee is a native of Mountain Home, Idaho. He resides in Provo with his wife Sue. They have six grown daughters, one son, sixteen grandchildren ranging in age from five to twenty-five and four great-grandchildren.
