Rebecca Densley, Ph.D., is a scholar and educator whose work lies at the intersection of media, development, and family life. She earned her B.S. in Family Science (Human Development emphasis) from BYU in 2013, followed by an M.A. (2016) and Ph.D. (2019) in Media & Communication from Texas Tech University. She spent the first six years of her academic career as an Assistant Professor at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
Whether through teaching or research, Dr. Densley’s ultimate goal is to strengthen families by promoting media literacy and healthy media use--skills she believes are critical for navigating today's complex media landscape. Her commitment to student learning and mentorship is at the heart of her professional philosophy. In the classroom, she uses active learning, group collaboration, and experiential methods to meaningfully engage students. Her scholarship, which explores how media influence the lives of children, adolescents, and families, has been featured in respected academic journals such as The Journal of Children and Media, Popular Communication, Journal of Child and Family Studies, and Media Psychology.
Outside of her academic work, Rebecca enjoys reading, dancing, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband and their three wonderful children.
