QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANT

Candidates should exhibit a love for clean, impactful design. You need to show excellence in editorial design, visual communication, and production for print and be proficient in the use of InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Applicants for this internship must be working toward a degree in graphic design, advertising, or have taken classes in graphic design and be currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university, or they must have recently finished a degree from an accredited college or university (within one year of beginning their internship).

Applicants must be available for video conference interviews.

Other qualifications include the following:

• A love for all aspects of design
• At least one year of college-level graphic design experience
• Willingness to listen to and learn from your peers
• Experience in editorial design and production
• Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
• Basic understanding of Church doctrine, history, organization, and policy
• The ability to manage many projects simultaneously
• The ability to give careful attention to detail and sustain concentration for long periods of time
• Experience creating engaging social media content, including graphics and short-form video editing for Instagram and other platforms, with a strong understanding of audience behavior and attention-grabbing design.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES

The YA Weekly design intern participates in the ideation, design and production of multiple articles for Church print and digital magazines and social media posts for a young adult audience (18-35). The intern is mentored in all aspects of design, including observation, collaboration, visualization, conceptualization, art direction, and implementation.
