QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANT

  • Technical – Applicant should have a developed sense of public presentation; excellent English language usage; and a keen eye and ear for detail.  Must have a congenial, interpersonal manner. Experience with audio production and strong writing skills are preferred.
  • Applicant must be able to learn recording and editing of audio with audio editing software and learn to engineer and mix on Axia control room board.
  • Applicant must be able to coordinate school and work schedule to be able to fill a regular 20-hour work week.
  • Work Skills – Manage time and workflow to complete all tasks on time. Communicate with talent and hosts in a calm, clear, mature manner, to create and maintain an atmosphere that is conducive to the missions, goals and standards of Brigham Young University.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES

  • Job Purpose: Create, produce, and run live and pre-recorded programming content for BYUradio.
  • Help BYUradio broadcast Cougar Sports to BYU fans across the nation. BYUradio is looking for students to assist in the on-air production of live sports (Football, Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Baseball) on our airwaves.  If selected for this position, you would be running the audio operations for the on-air broadcasts of BYU Sports on BYUradio and the BYUradio Sports Network.  Additionally, you would assist the Sports Producer with web content of each game. 
  • Duties would include operating the mixing board console, running commercials for clients, recording the game, editing game audio, posting game audio to the web, and updating the score for listeners. 

Other duties could include:

  • Production of recorded shows for later broadcast on BYUradio.
  • Other audio editing responsibilities.
  • The hours for this position are dependant on the schedule of the Athletic events being aired on the BYUradio Sports Network.  As such you would be required to work weekends and holidays if you accept the position. You will be asked to work during home sporting events.  You could be required to work alone and possibly late into the night with long broadcasts and overtime games.
