QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANT
- Understanding of applying branding and identity to visual content
- Knowledge of evolving social media frameworks, formats, and trends
- Experience creating short-form video content (e.g., Reels, TikToks, YouTube Shorts)
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, respond quickly to feedback from art directors, and deliver content in multiple aspect ratios
- Experience with Adobe creative suite is encouraged, but not required
- Familiarity with Utah’s unique culture, events, and communities is a plus
DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES
- Content Creation: Produce engaging social content, videos and posts that highlight the best journalism from the Deseret News and our brand
- Branding and design: Apply Deseret News branding and graphic design skills to the content creation process to create posts that fit seamlessly within the brand and showcase visual hierarchy that keeps users engaged and promotes interactions
- Research and strategy: Collect inspiration and follow social media trends to inform the adaptation of long-form editorial pieces to short-form content
- Collaboration: Work closely with art directors, designers, and writers to create content that complements newsroom coverage.
