QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANT
- Superior writing and communication abilities
- Highly creative and adaptable in learning communication styles nad voice
- Editing and publishing, English, COmmunications, or Journalism major or minor or the ability to demonstrate excellent creative writing and editorial skills
- Ability to attend events independently and mange projects with little supervision
- Willing to receive feedback in a mentored, experiential learning environment
- Maturity: ability to interface and work with deans, directors, and department chairs
- Ability to work consistent hours (15 to 20 fall/winter/spring/summer)
- Available to attend weekly staff meetings Thursdays at 11:00 a.m.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES
- Complete original writing and editing projects, including long-form articles, news stories, email newsletter, brochures, and advertising copy
- interview faculty , students, and alumni to publicize their latest research, achievements, events, and programs
- Provide substantive feedback on both news stories and magazine articles
- Attend guest lectures and other College events and write about them for a variety of print and digital channels
- Create and refresh content on the College website
- Plan, organize, and participate in promotional campaigns for the College
- Recommend creative solutions for DMaC's ongoing publications calendar and strategy
