REGISTRATION FOR COMMS 496R
- Step 1. Make sure you have completed the necessary prerequisite classes to be eligible for Comms 496R. Check with your academic advisor if you are unsure.
Step 2. Submit your internship application to https://experience.byu.edu/student.
- The Internship Provider and Contact name will be your company supervisor
- MEDIA & SOCIETY: Complete a minimum of 42 hours of Comms related work under mentored supervision. Supervisor may not be related.
- ADVERTISING, PUBLIC RELATIONS, JOURNALISM & SPORTS MEDIA: Complete a minimum of 126 hours for a 3 credit enrollment of Comms related work under mentored supervision. Supervisor may not be related per BYU policy. (If you would like to enroll for more than 3 credits check the hour requirements.)
- Fill in the internship position description, competencies you will work on and improve upon, and then a brief explanation of how you will improve those skills.
- Step 3. Off campus providers are required to have a signed internship agreement on file with BYU. You may search the database or find the pdf for your supervisor to sign and email back at this link https://experience.byu.edu/providers-new-site-copy
- Step 4. Once this application is approved, you will receive an email allowing you to register for Comms 496R-001 via myMap. Do this to ensure you are added to Learning Suite where you will access and submit the assignments for credit.
