Study Abroad available in New York City for COMMS students

The School of Communications invites you to spend spring in New York City—the world’s media capital—to study its history and tell its story.

From April 28 to June 14, this study abroad offers students the opportunity to experience the rich history of journalism, advertising and public relations.

“The study abroad gives students a taste of New York so that they might consider doing an internship there,” said Dale Cressman, faculty director of the study abroad. “It’s a wonderful opportunity to infuse curriculum with diversity for pretty much what it would cost to stay in Provo.”

Students will experience this diversity by learning the city’s media history, studying the newspapers produced by journalists from various racial and ethnic backgrounds, and examining original historical documents. Students will also learn to tell stories about the city and its people, using their smart phones and laptops to distribute content through various media platforms.

Applications due January 29, 2016.
