Kris Boyle, Ph.D is no stranger to BYU and to the School of Communications. An Idaho native, Dr. Boyle earned his bachelor’s degree (Print Journalism, 2001) and his master’s degree (Mass Communication, 2005) from the school. As an undergraduate, he spent several semesters working as a student editor for the Universe, including one as managing editor. Dr. Boyle also worked as a reporter for the Idaho Falls Post Register from 2001-2003 before deciding to pursue his graduate degrees. He earned his Ph.D. in Mass Communications from Texas Tech University in 2008 and spent six years working as an assistant professor of journalism at Creighton University before returning to BYU.
Dr. Boyle currently teaches undergraduate classes in media writing and editing. His research interests include the journalism’s use of new media technology, including social media. He is a member of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication and has published articles in several peer-reviewed journals, including Newspaper Research Journal, Journal of Media & Religion, and Computers in Human Behavior. In his spare time, he loves to spend time with his beautiful wife and two amazing boys. He loves running, biking, and attending BYU sports events.
