Pamela Jo Brubaker, Ph.D., is a professor of public relations in the School of Communications who currently serves as associate director for graduate studies. She earned a doctorate in mass communications from The Pennsylvania State University as well as bachelor’s and master’s degrees in communications from Brigham Young University along with an associate’s degree from Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho). Her research interests emerged from her public relations experience in the technology industry where she worked in media relations, corporate communications, and marketing communications. Brubaker is an advocate of peacemaking and civil discourse online. She is also an ardent scholar of today’s media environment with an interest in how individuals, organizations, and society can and should use communications more effectively for good. She has published peer reviewed research in journals such as Social Media + Society, Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, International Journal of Strategic Communication, Mass Communication and Society, Public Relations Review, Psychology of Popular Media, Journal of Religion, Media, & Digital Culture, International Journal of Communication, Sex Roles, and Journal of Children and Media.
