QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANT

  • Strong writing and editing skills. (If trimming a paragraph down to one punchy sentence sounds fun, you’ll thrive.)
  • Ability to be a team player who’s open to feedback and collaboration.
  • Familiarity with email layouts and best practices.
  • Coursework in marketing or communications (preferred but not required).
  • Time management skills—you’re comfortable juggling a few things at once.
  • Availability for 15–20 hours per week during office hours, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend availability for events.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES

Email Marketing

  • Write quick, clever summaries of BYU Marriott stories—think less research paper, more snappy blurbs.
  • Work with editors to tighten your writing and match each newsletter’s unique style.
  • Connect with BYU Marriott partners to feature helpful student resources.
  • Format and build emails using user-friendly software. (We’ll teach you.)
  • Use analytics to spot what’s working and pitch improvements backed by data.

Internal Marketing

  • Help brainstorm messaging for large-scale internal campaigns.
  • Assist with printing, cutting, assembling, and installing campaign materials—some lifting required.
  • Be on-site at occasional college events to keep things running smoothly—some evenings or weekends may be required.
  • Jump in on other internal marketing and communications projects as needed.

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

Apply through Workday and upload a résumé, cover letter, and two writing samples. These should show off your ability to write clearly, engagingly, and maybe even with a little personality. Think blog posts, social captions, newsletter blurbs, event recaps—anything that’s not a research paper or creative short story. If it makes us want to keep reading, it’s fair game.
