Social Media & Communications Intern

EMA Foundation

Position start date: June 3, 2024 - August 9, 2024

Location: Remote

Hours per Week: 20-25

Counts for 399R credit? Yes

Counts for 496R credit? Yes

Wage/Salary:  Interns will be compensated with a stipend of $5,000, less applicable taxes, disbursed bi-weekly throughout the summer.

QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANT

Interested applicants should have a developed interest in communications, social media, visual storytelling, marketing, philanthropy, and graphic design. Additional qualifications include:

  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Experience with video and podcast production and related editing software
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • The ability to work both synchronously and asynchronously
  • Experience managing social media accounts and creating targeted visual and written content

DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES

  • Assisting in the oversight and maintenance of EMA Foundation’s social media presence on Instagram, LinkedIn, and Facebook
  • Developing, drafting, and posting social media posts and written content for newsletter and email communications
  • Collaborating with the Director of Communications to ensure that EMA brand voice is consistent across social media and other communications channels
  • Monitoring activity on our blog, rhizōma, and supporting the Director of rhizōma in the sourcing, review, and publication of content
  • Producing messaging materials and social media content in collaboration with EMA Foundation partners to support individual campaigns and fundraising initiatives
  • Engaging in research on social media strategies employed across the philanthropy industry to offer insight on potential differentiators and growth opportunities
  • Completing educational activities and professional development modules as advised
