QUALIFICATIONS OF APPLICANT

Strong writing skills-news writing experience preferred

Strong editing skills-proficient in AP and Chicago style

Ability to write both straight news and feature-style articles

Strong verbal communication skills to effectively interview sources

Works well on concurrent projects, meeting all deadlines

Ability to work independently as well as with the team

Innovate while taking direction and feedback with grace

Self-motivated, creative, and strong attention to details

Life science majors are particularly encouraged to apply

DESCRIPTION OF JOB DUTIES

Interview interesting students, faculty, and alumni

Write and edit engaging magazine features

Write news articles for our website, internal communications, local media, and donors

Work with departments to identify and propose story ideas
